Symposium Overview
The Energy Club of Columbia's Graduate School of Business and The Energy Association of Columbia's School of International and Public Policy will host Imagining Tomorrow: Energy in a Carbon Constrained World on Friday, 27 March 2009. The day-long event will be in Lerner Hall, on Columbia's Morningside campus. The two schools are joined in their dedication to educating those who will develop and execute solutions to the looming energy challenges.
Imagining Tomorrow will focus on the influence that carbon constraints have on the use of coal, renewable energy, and unconventional oil as well as the role that carbon markets can play in this dynamic sector. The purpose of Imaging Tomorrow is to create an exchange of ideas – balancing portfolios between traditional and emerging energy companies, and connect students with business leaders, academics and regulatory experts. All participants will gather to create new ideas which will enrich the knowledge of all participants and rebalance the world's energy portfolio.
In short, the symposium will connect students with those in defining roles at the forefront of both traditional and emerging energy markets in a schedule that features:
- Three Keynote Speakers who are industry leaders
- Four panels that will focus on sharply-definied themes critical to driving energy solutions, featuring panellist who come to the symposium open on their experiences and successes across featured topics of:
- Renewable Energy
- Coal – Then and Now
- Unconventional Oil
- Carbon Markets.
